Your daily guide, posted Sunday-Thursday by 6am, to take what we are learning from loving it to living it!

Learn It - Mark 2:3-12

3 And they come unto him, bringing one sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.

4 And when they could not come nigh unto him for the press, they uncovered the roof where he was: and when they had broken it up, they let down the bed wherein the sick of the palsy lay.
5 When Jesus saw their faith, he said unto the sick of the palsy, Son, thy sins be forgiven thee.
6 But there was certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts,
7 Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? who can forgive sins but God only?
8 And immediately when Jesus perceived in his spirit that they so reasoned within themselves, he said unto them, Why reason ye these things in your hearts?
9 Whether is it easier to say to the sick of the palsy, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and take up thy bed, and walk?
10 But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (he saith to the sick of the palsy,)
11 I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy bed, and go thy way into thine house.
12 And immediately he arose, took up the bed, and went forth before them all; insomuch that they were all amazed, and glorified God, saying, We never saw it on this fashion.

Love It - A Call To Stand Apart, p. 30

“This is the lesson which Jesus taught while He was on earth, that the gift which God promises us, we must believe we do receive, and it is ours. Jesus healed the people of their diseases when they had faith in His power; He helped them in the things which they could see, thus inspiring them with confidence in Him concerning things which they could not see—leading them to believe in His power to forgive sins....
Let us turn to the story of the paralytic at Bethesda. The poor sufferer was helpless; he had not used his limbs for thirty-eight years. Yet Jesus bade him, 'Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.' The sick man might have said, 'Lord, if Thou wilt make me whole, I will obey Thy word.' But, no, he believed Christ’s word, believed that he was made whole, and he made the effort at once; he willed to walk, and he did walk. He acted on the word of Christ, and God gave the power. He was made whole.
In like manner you are a sinner. You cannot atone for your past sins; you cannot change your heart and make yourself holy. But God promises to do all this for you through Christ. You believe that promise. You confess your sins and give yourself to God. You will to serve Him. Just as surely as you do this, God will fulfill His word to you. If you believe the promise,—believe that you are forgiven and cleansed,—God supplies the fact; you are made whole, just as Christ gave the paralytic power to walk when the man believed that he was healed. It is so if you believe it."

Live It

There is a clear relationship between forgiveness and faith!  We all want to be forgiven and forgive, but to do so we must believe before it is experienced.  Whether it's believing that we have received it from God or believing enough to live what God commanded to forgive 70 X 7 times if needed.  So let's work our faith today!  Write down one thing that you KNOW you cannot do, but you BELIEVE Jesus can do.  But more than that, write down at least (3) Bible verses to support why you think Jesus can do this impossible thing.  Finally, wait and see how God moves.

If we are able to forgive others, is it only if they hurt us or can we actually forgive others of their sins and it be the same as God's forgiveness.

Great question! Looking in the Scriptures, we are as able to forgive others for sin as we are able to save others from them. It is impossible to "sin" against another person because only God is equal to His law. God IS the Law. Throughout Scripture, the Law is described by others as "His law" (Psalm 1:2, 78:10, Daniel 6:5, 9:10) or by God Himself as "my law" (Genesis 26:5, Proverbs 4:2, Jeremiah 44:10).

In one of the most famous confessions for sin, David states clearly "Against thee, thee only, have I sinned, and done this evil in thy sight: that thou mightest be justified when thou speakest, and be clear when thou judgest." - Psalm 51:4

Can we hurt each other? Can we offend a brother? Can do wrong to a sister? Unfortunately, we sure can. We can even commit crimes against one another, but sin is only against the Lawgiver. "There is one lawgiver, who is able to save and to destroy: who art thou that judgest another?" - James 4:12.

Therefore, when we forgive, we have the power to forgive in the sense that we let go. We surrender! We choose not to hold the wrong against that brother/sister. As in the parable of the merciful king in Matthew 18:27: "Then the lord of that servant was moved with compassion, and loosed him, and forgave him the debt."

But ohhh! Someone has to still pay for that debt! We may forgive the wrong us, but who will atone for the sin - the violation against the Law? The Lawgiver! Being the Law, He also atones for the sin through the righteous blood of Jesus! And the only ones that remain condemned are those who refuse to forgive as Christ has atoned for them (See Matthew 18:33)!

In the end, we forgive to the degree we believe Jesus atones!
