PHILOSOPHY of Ministry
And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.
1 JOHN 4:16
As a born-again Christian, I know, believe, and accept Jesus Christ as my personal Savior! For me, the scope of this gift can be seen in the words of 1 John 4:16. The way to eternal life through the gift of Jesus’ sacrifice requires only that “we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love…” The walk of victory is experienced when “he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.” It is through His deliverance that I have come to know the call that the Father has on my life to ”Say unto them, [As] I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die, O house of Israel?” Ezekiel 33:11. With this as my life’s text, I offer my everything to ministry.

TESTIMONY
Youth ministry in the Mississippi delta.
A third-generation Seventh-day Adventist, I was born in the church in Washington, D.C. Blessed with loving parents, family, and a church school, I learned the truth of the Advent message. But while I was in the church, the church was not always in me. It was not until my freshman year in college that I came to not just know of Jesus, but to know Him for myself! He changed my life and gave me the call to share His love through teaching & preaching. I know He has the claim on my soul and this call on my family. My wife, Tara, an Adventist educator and administrator, and our children Qristara, Faith, & Jai’el.
ACADEMIC WORK
My academic career began at Oakwood University as a Biology/Pre-Medicine student in 1995. But when I found a personal relationship with Christ, I also stopped running and accepted my calling to teach & preach. While I concluded my studies in 2000 to accept the call to teach on the secondary level, I was blessed to complete my undergraduate studies with a BA in Church Leadership in 2013. TEACHING & PREACHING
Teaching a multi-week revival series.
I have taught, pastored, and evangelized within the Seventh-day Adventist church & school system for 20 years. My ministry track has taken me through teaching all of the elementary and secondary grades, K-12th. Teaching has galvanized by belief that it is better to raise children rather than repair adults. Pastoring as a lay-minister, I was able to see firsthand how the leadership of the Spirit of God can rally a group of believers to create community for Christ. Evangelism abroad has given me the opportunity to see how the Gospel, “the power of God unto salvation”, is able save lives from every dysfunction, discouragement, and disbelief.
Homeschooling and/co-teaching our three children along with my wife, has proven to be the most rewarding call personally. It is the most effective means that’s created a foundation of ministry that incorporates the gifts of each member of our family to build the body of Christ!
As an academy Bible teacher & Chaplain, it’s shaped my perception of teaching to really see the needs of each student on a spiritual level. This need to get students to understand and value salvation as a personal expression of the Father’s love helps me to always have that focus in mind whether teaching Bible, Health, Physical Fitness, or Driver’s Education - it’s all about Jesus!

LEADERSHIP
Over the years I have enjoyed working within the church and leading a self-supporting ministry. As the director of CHANGEministry, there has been a flexibility that educational evangelism has afforded my family and me. Being able to meet the varied and specific needs of schools and churches has given back to me as much as we have sought to give. Having to coordinate both the content and logistics of revivals, classes, or curriculums has made me adept in ministering in different contexts and environments while always maintaining a focus on the fundamental need of the individual – the love of God.
CHANGEministry (changeministry.org) is the outreach the Lord gave our family almost 19 years ago. CHANGE is an acronym inviting seekers to “Come Have A New Growth Experience”. Beginning as a youth Bible study for a few Academy students curious about Biblical concepts, Jesus has grown it into an online Bible Study resource and traveling evangelistic ministry with the aim of “Touching Christ - Teaching People”.
When serving as the leader of various projects, I am humbled to be able to see how Jesus can do so much with so little. As the chairman of the National Bible Bee Local Planning Committee in East Texas, I saw how children & families can come together through the study of the Word. As the chairman and organizer of an unprecedented “Solidarity Day” between local churches that brought together State-conference, Regional-conference, and Hispanic congregations, I saw the value of real unity as a context for the outpouring of the Spirit of God.

SERVICE
A CHANGEministry marriage/family weekend.
As a Christian in the Seventh-day Church, I am grateful for being able to serve in various leadership arenas. As an ordained Elder and serving in several congregations when I was not ministering in a pastoral capacity. As a Sabbath School and New Believer’s Class teacher strengthening the church through systematic Bible study. As a Social Ministries leader to create community through fellowship and interaction. As a VBS team member, teaching the children in the community the realities of our Heavenly Father through the stories and principles of Scripture.
For the past two NAD Teacher’s Conventions in 2012 & 2018, I have been selected as a presenter and co-presenter with my wife to teach seminars on the topics of prayer, health, communication, & the Gospel in the sanctuary. Most recently, I was invited to serve as a teacher & presenter at the South Central Conference Outdoor School.

My interest in multimedia communications has enhanced our digital outreach to include online, print, and social media. Building and maintaining our ministry website has enabled me to partner with other churches and conferences in the development of their own digital footprints.
Having used both Microsoft Office Suite, OpenOffice.org, and Apple’s equivalent, my teaching software/hardware experience includes utilizing and managing SMART Board, Apple iPads, Amazon Kindles, Nooks, Alexa, Proclaim, Weebly, GIMP, OBS, and various desktops and laptops for learning.
