  • "But now" (Roman 3:21) presents the fact the righteousness of God (the Gospel) takes place in the context/the shadow of the sinful nature (Roman 3:20).  For more read 1 Timothy 1:15!

 Brief background of the book of Romans:
  • The first of 13 epistles (letters) written by the apostle & evangelist, Paul of Tarsus.
  • Dictated by Paul and written by his assistant, Tertius, around 58 AD, while in Corinth.
    • Acts 20:1-3
    • Romans 15:25-27
  • The letter was written to prepare for Paul's visit to Rome and eventually, Spain. 
    • Romans 1:10-13
    • Romans 15:23-28
  • The letter was probably transported by a deaconess named Phoebe
    • Romans 16:1-2
  • Martin Luther called it "the chief book of the New Testament and the purest Gospel."
